Kazakhstan and China have agreed to deepen cooperation in civil nuclear energy, marking a new step in bilateral energy relations.
The development came during the visit of Wang Hongzhi, head of China’s National Energy Administration, to Kazakhstan, where the first meeting of the Kazakhstan-China joint working group on civil nuclear energy cooperation was held, The Caspian Post reports via gov.kz.
The meeting was co-chaired by Almassadam Satkaliyev, Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy, alongside the Chinese delegation.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed key issues related to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening long-term cooperation in the sector.
Special attention was given to improving coordination between the relevant authorities and expanding practical collaboration in nuclear energy development and related technologies.
Following the meeting, the sides signed a protocol outlining the agreed-upon measures and setting future priorities for cooperation in civil nuclear energy.
