Kazakhstan is set for warmer temperatures, heavy precipitation, and blizzards through January 5.
The Kazhydromet National Weather Service said a cyclone from the Mediterranean is moving toward Kazakhstan, bringing snow and blizzards to most regions, with rain and snow expected in the west, south, and southeast, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
On January 3, heavy snow will hit the northwest, while the southeast may see significant rainfall. Authorities warn of black ice, fog, and gusty winds.
Temperatures will vary widely: in the west, highs may reach +5°C and lows drop to -8°C; in the central region, -10 to -18°C at night and -5 to -12°C during the day; in the south, -10°C to 0°C at night and -6 to +2°C in daytime; the southeast will see -5 to 0°C at night and -2 to +3°C in daytime, with colder mountain areas; the east will experience -5 to -13°C at night and -5 to -10°C in daytime.
Kazhydromet urges residents to prepare for hazardous conditions and take precautions on the roads.
