Kazakhstan and Kuwait are accelerating efforts to boost bilateral trade, investment, and financial cooperation following high-level talks between Kazakh Ambassador to Kuwait Yerzan Yelekeev and Kuwaiti Finance Minister Yaqub Al-Refai.
The meeting focused on preparations for the 4th Kazakhstan-Kuwait Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Cultural, and Humanitarian Cooperation, which is scheduled to take place in the second half of this year, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
A key topic of discussion was progress toward a bilateral agreement aimed at avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion, a move expected to create a more favorable environment for investors and businesses in both countries.
Ambassador Yelekeev highlighted Kazakhstan’s strong economic performance and its role as one of Central Asia’s leading economies, emphasizing new opportunities for Kuwaiti investors across a range of sectors.
Food security and agricultural cooperation also featured prominently in the talks. The two sides explored joint initiatives to establish sustainable supply chains that would facilitate the export of Kazakh agricultural products to Gulf markets.
During the meeting, the ambassador delivered an official invitation from Kazakhstan’s Finance Minister for his Kuwaiti counterpart to visit Kazakhstan, a step both sides believe could provide fresh momentum to bilateral relations.
Kuwaiti officials welcomed the invitation and expressed interest in Kazakhstan’s plans to expand trade and attract foreign investment.
