The Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry has announced that Kazakhstan officially opened the Khan Tengri Innovation Hub in Shanghai’s Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, widely regarded as Asia’s Silicon Valley.
The Khan Tengri Innovation Hub is the region’s first dedicated platform aimed at integrating the technological capabilities of Central Eurasian countries with China’s innovation ecosystem, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
Designed as a next-generation tech diplomacy hub, it connects startups, innovative companies, and research centers from Central Eurasia with China’s vast market and global opportunities.
The initiative was launched by the Kazakh company Growth Vision Pro, supported by the Ministry, Astana Hub, and IT Park Uzbekistan.
Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev highlighted the hub’s strategic role as a gateway for Central Asian startups to engage with Chinese investors, along with providing incubation and acceleration programs. “We are confident this hub will play a crucial role in promoting our technology companies in the Chinese market,” he said.
Key goals of the Khan Tengri Innovation Hub include fostering cross-border technology transfer in digitization, high technology, and R&D; facilitating Central Asian startups’ entry into the Chinese market; offering Chinese companies a “soft landing” into Eurasia, Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) through the Middle Corridor; and encouraging joint R&D, technology transfer, and venture investments. The hub also aims to raise awareness of Central Eurasia’s tech potential within China.
The hub offers modern business infrastructure including office spaces, coworking zones, and serviced apartments, along with legal and tax advisory services to help companies establish connections with Chinese investors, manufacturing partners, and accelerators.
In partnership with Chinese accelerator XNode, the hub provides tailored educational and acceleration programs, from the short China Market Entry Bootcamp-which helps companies explore the market and develop entry strategies-to the longer China Launchpad program, which supports scaling and expansion. Participants benefit from mentoring, workshops, and networking within China’s thriving tech ecosystem.
By offering access to the world’s largest consumer market, the Khan Tengri Innovation Hub empowers Central Eurasian startups and tech companies to attract investment, forge partnerships, and launch exports, paving the way for their growth as global players.
