Kazakhstan Proposes New Initiatives to Strengthen Media Ties

Kazakhstan has put forward a set of new initiatives aimed at strengthening media cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

Vice Minister of Culture and Information Kanat Iskakov announced the proposals at the seventh meeting of OTS ministers and senior officials responsible for media, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, The Caspian Post informs via local media.

Iskakov noted that the key step should be expanding access to TV content produced by OTS member states. He also stressed the need for wider mutual broadcasting of national TV channels to ensure real effectiveness in cooperation.

A second priority is increasing joint production of content - including TV series, documentaries, and programs focused on tourism, culture, and investment opportunities across the Turkic world.

Iskakov highlighted the importance of creating high-quality children’s content in Turkic languages, calling it crucial for strengthening cultural ties among the younger generation.

He also urged OTS members to develop joint approaches to journalistic standards in the digital age, especially as artificial intelligence becomes more widely used. Some AI tools, including GPT-based platforms, may contain inaccurate or misleading information about the countries of the region.

Another proposal focuses on coordinating AI use in media production and developing unified ethical guidelines, including data protection and anti-manipulation measures. Iskakov emphasized the need to clearly label AI-generated content so viewers can distinguish it from traditional media products.
