Kazakhstan’s Majilis has ratified an Interim Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Mongolia, paving the way for expanded trade ties and easier market access.
Speaking during the parliamentary session, Kazakh Acting Minister of Trade and Integration Zhanel Kushakova said the agreement envisages the abolition of import customs duties on 367 product categories traded between EAEU member states and Mongolia, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The document is valid for three years and includes an automatic extension for an additional three-year period.
Kushakova noted that the agreement goes beyond tariff liberalization, covering technical regulation, sanitary and phytosanitary standards, customs cooperation, and measures aimed at protecting domestic markets. These provisions are designed to streamline trade procedures and remove non-tariff barriers.
“The agreement creates favorable conditions for the entry of goods into the Mongolian market,” she noted, emphasizing that its ratification will not lead to negative socio-economic or legal consequences and will not require additional spending from the state budget.
