Kazakhstan Fires Police Officers after Inspection Findings

A major staff overhaul has taken place within Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry after inspections revealed serious violations in the Atyrau region, leading to the dismissal of several high-ranking police officers.

According to the ministry, routine internal checks exposed gross breaches of service discipline and shortcomings in oversight and management, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

“As a result of identified serious violations of service discipline and lack of proper control and organization, the interior minister has relieved the head of the Atyrau city police department, as well as the heads of internal security and anti-narcotics units of the regional police department from their posts,” the ministry said.

Officials stressed that regular inspections are conducted on an ongoing basis to ensure accountability across territorial divisions.

The interior ministry reiterated its commitment to enforcing lawfulness and discipline within its ranks, emphasizing that such measures are part of a consistent and systematic effort to maintain integrity in law enforcement.
