Kazakhstan, Russia to Sign Declaration Elevating Ties to Strategic Partnership and Alliance

Kazakhstan and Russia are set to sign a landmark Declaration to elevate bilateral relations to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Alliance, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced in an article for Rossiyskaya Gazeta ahead of his visit to Moscow on November 11-12.

“The signing of this Declaration will open a new era in our bilateral relations, confirming an unprecedented level of mutual trust and readiness to cooperate closely across all areas,” Tokayev wrote, The Caspian Post informs via Russian media.

He emphasized that Kazakhstan and Russia have built exemplary interstate relations, steadily developing multifaceted cooperation for over three decades for the benefit of both nations.

Tokayev highlighted that more than 20,000 companies with Russian capital are currently operating in Kazakhstan, contributing to economic growth and regional development. Energy cooperation remains a key pillar of the partnership, alongside the expansion of the eastern branch of the North-South transport corridor, which has already seen significant growth in cargo volumes. The Russia-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway plays a central role, and a roadmap has been signed to increase the corridor’s capacity to 20 million tons per year over the next five years.

“The areas mentioned are vital to our cooperation, but the scope of Kazakhstan-Russia interaction is much broader, covering all possible sectors,” Tokayev noted. He added that both governments aim to bring new, high-tech industries to the forefront of the partnership, shaping the economy of the future.

The Declaration and upcoming talks with President Vladimir Putin are expected to strengthen bilateral ties, expand cooperation in strategic sectors, and usher in a new era of close partnership and alliance between the two countries.
