Kazakhstan’s New Foreign Minister Vows Continuity in Strategic Priorities

Kazakh new Foreign Minister, Yermek Kosherbayev, has assured that the ministry’s strategic priorities will remain unchanged.

Kosherbayev dismissed any notion that the ministry was underperforming, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

“I don’t believe the ministry is working weakly. In my view, that assessment is incorrect. Our work will continue along the same path as before. Naturally, there will be some adjustments, but the overall direction remains steady,” he said.

Kosherbayev emphasized that the ministry is fully committed to fulfilling the foreign policy objectives set by Kazakhstan’s president.

He also expressed a positive view of his predecessor, Murat Nurtleu, who stepped down from his post following a presidential decree on September 26.

“You know, I always have a positive attitude towards the work of my predecessors. Why? Because I am not here to judge; I am here to take over the responsibilities and deliver results. The assessment of Nurtleu’s work is made by the president. Taking into account that he has been appointed as a presidential aide, it clearly indicates a positive evaluation,” Kosherbayev stated.

The new minister added that no major personnel changes are planned within the foreign ministry.

“As you know, I am not a supporter of replacing staff. Wherever I have worked, people have remained in their positions. The ministry is like a second home to me; I know everyone here well, having served as the responsible secretary, deputy minister, and ambassador,” he concluded.
