TuLOla, a jewelry brand from Karaganda, Kazakhstan, has made waves at Milan Fashion Week with an extraordinary collection crafted from stabilized coal.
Founded by Olga Zeller, the brand blends art and heritage by transforming a symbol of Karaganda’s mining roots into elegant accessories, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
Olga started her creative journey in 2016 using natural stones, leather, and resin. In 2019, she began incorporating coal-specifically anthracite, known for its beauty and quality-into her designs. Through innovative techniques, Olga stabilized the coal with jewelry resin, making the pieces durable and wearable without stains.
Living in a coal-heated home, Olga handpicks unique mineral-rich pieces for her work. Her distinct coal jewelry has earned accolades in Kazakhstan and caught the attention of European fashion experts at Milan Fashion Week, who praised its craftsmanship and aesthetic.
Looking ahead, Olga aims to grow TuLOla’s collection and promote Kazakh design globally, with upcoming showcases at Kazakhstan Fashion Day and Türkiye Fashion Week this November.
This fusion of tradition and modern fashion is putting Kazakhstan’s creativity on the world map-one coal jewel at a time.
