Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia Seal Key Investment Pact

Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia have taken a major step toward deepening their strategic partnership following high-level talks in Riyadh.

Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev paid an official visit to the Kingdom, leading a delegation that included Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna Nurlan Zhakupov and Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

High-Level Talks in Riyadh

The centerpiece of the visit was negotiations with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. Both sides conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral relations, prioritizing stronger political dialogue, expanded trade and investment ties, and closer cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The ministers highlighted the positive momentum in relations built on mutual trust and strategic complementarity. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the legal framework of cooperation and advancing concrete, mutually beneficial projects.

Coordinating on Global Issues

The two countries also exchanged views on key regional and global challenges. They underlined the importance of coordinated action within international platforms, including the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, and the OPEC+ format.

Kazakhstan considers Saudi Arabia as a close and reliable partner in the Middle East and the Arab world,” Kosherbayev said, emphasizing the high level of trust and alignment on global issues.

Focus on Energy and Green Transition

Economic cooperation took center stage. Kazakhstan expressed strong interest in attracting Saudi capital into priority sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and the green economy.

During the visit, Kosherbayev also met with Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Investment Minister Fahad Al-Saif, and Chairman of ACWA Power Mohammad Abunayyan. Discussions centered on traditional power generation, renewable energy development, green transition projects, and expanding Saudi investment and technology flows into Kazakhstan.

New Agreements Signed

The visit concluded with the signing of intergovernmental agreements on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments and on the Establishment of a Kazakhstan-Saudi Coordination Council - signaling a new phase of institutionalized and forward-looking cooperation between the two nations.
