Kazakhstan is bracing for a powerful wave of winter storms, with Kazhydromet issuing alerts for 15 regions as blizzards, heavy snow, ice, fog and strong winds sweep the country.
Abai, East Kazakhstan and Almaty regions are set to face the harshest conditions, including heavy snowfall and winds reaching 23 m/s. Zhetysu region may see gusts up to 28-30 m/s near the Alakol lakes, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Atyrau, Aktobe, Akmola, Zhambyl, Karaganda and Pavlodar regions are also under warnings for snow, blizzards, fog and icy roads, with wind speeds of 15-20 m/s expected in many areas.
Authorities urge residents to stay alert, follow weather updates and exercise caution on the roads as the winter front intensifies.
