A roof collapsed during a major fire at a two-story building in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on October 21.
Four people were injured and taken to hospital. The fire broke out on the roof of a two-story building on Prigorodnaya Street in the Aigerim-1 microdistrict of Alatau district, according to zakon.kz.
The first firefighting crews arrived at the scene within seven minutes, by which time the roof was fully engulfed in flames.
The roof was covered with metal tiles installed on a wooden framework, allowing the fire to spread rapidly. Firefighters also faced the risk of the flames reaching neighboring residential buildings.
Emergency crews eventually extinguished the fire, which covered an area of 180 square meters. However, the roof collapsed during firefighting operations.
“Four injured people were hospitalized. They are currently under medical supervision,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
