Pakistan has offered Kazakhstan the use of its seaports for cargo transit, opening the possibility of expanding Kazakhstan’s access to markets in the Persian Gulf, Africa and Southeast Asia.

Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry made the proposal during a meeting with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

The minister said Pakistani ports could become important transit hubs not only for Kazakhstan but for the wider Central Asian region, potentially creating new trade routes for landlocked countries.

The sides also discussed prospects for developing joint projects in free economic zones, adding another dimension to the growing economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.

The proposal could strengthen transport and trade connectivity between Central Asia and global maritime markets, while providing Kazakhstan with additional routes to reach major consumer and trading centers beyond its traditional corridors.
