Kazakhstan has opened a new export route for mineral fertilizer shipments from Ekibastuz to the United Kingdom, further expanding the country’s trade links with European markets through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor.

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) organized the first multimodal shipment, combining rail and maritime transport to deliver the cargo from Ekibastuz to the UK, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakhstan's Temir Zholy National Company.

The route crosses Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Georgia, before the cargo is transported by sea from the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi to Felixstowe in the UK.

KTZ said the new logistics route creates additional opportunities for Kazakh fertilizer producers to enter the British market. The Middle Corridor offers competitive transit times while diversifying transportation options and strengthening the resilience of international supply chains.

The launch is part of KTZ’s broader efforts to expand Kazakhstan’s international freight network. The company has previously arranged an export shipment from Ekibastuz to Miami and currently facilitates cargo deliveries to markets including the United States, UK, Belgium, Poland and the Czech Republic.

According to KTZ, expanding export logistics services will help Kazakhstan increase its foreign trade potential, open new markets for domestic producers and improve the efficiency of international freight transportation.
