Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has extended warm congratulations to the people of Kazakhstan on Capital Day, which this year coincides meaningfully with National Dombra Day - a dual celebration that highlights both the nation’s cultural heritage and its modern achievements.
In his official address, Tokayev emphasized the symbolic alignment of the two holidays, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
He described the dombra, a traditional stringed instrument, as a timeless emblem of the Great Steppe’s cultural legacy, and hailed Astana, the country’s capital, as a beacon of Kazakhstan’s dynamic development and forward-looking vision.
“Dear fellow citizens, I congratulate you on Capital Day! It is deeply symbolic that this year’s celebration falls on Dombra Day,” said Tokayev. “The dombra is a vivid embodiment of our unique, thousand-year-old cultural legacy, while Astana stands as a powerful testament to Kazakhstan’s modern progress and aspirations for the future.”
The president went on to highlight Astana’s evolution into a national and international symbol - a vibrant hub for governance, diplomacy, and innovation.
“Today, our capital is the heart of Kazakhstan’s public, political, and economic life - a place where bold ideas take shape and critical decisions are made,” he noted. “Here, the values of knowledge, labor, unity, and harmony are upheld. As the pearl of Central Eurasia, Astana has earned its place as a respected platform for global dialogue and peacebuilding initiatives.”
In closing, President Tokayev expressed confidence in Astana’s continued leadership role in national reforms and extended well-wishes to all citizens.
“Astana has always been at the forefront of major reforms and transformative change. I am confident that as we build a Fair, Clean, and Strong Kazakhstan, our capital will continue to lead the way,” he stated.
“May our beloved city flourish and grow ever more beautiful. I wish all Kazakhstani citizens health, happiness, and prosperity.”
