Russia's Gazprom company and Kazakhstan have taken a significant step toward enhancing their energy partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding to facilitate the construction of a new major gas pipeline from Russia to Kazakhstan.
The announcement came following a working meeting between Gazprom Chairman Alexey Miller and Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
Both sides highlighted their dedication to a long-term collaboration, driven by Kazakhstan’s increasing demand for natural gas.
In addition to the pipeline project, the two parties signed an agreement detailing the key terms for the long-term processing of Kazakh gas in Russia. This includes cooperation on the processing of gas from Kazakhstan’s Karachaganak field at the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant, which is slated for modernization.
