A remarkable birth has captured attention in Rudny, Kazakhstan, where a baby girl weighing an impressive 5,190 grams was delivered at the city’s perinatal center.

Named Lyaysan, the newborn arrived on April 10, measuring 55 cm in length. Doctors say both mother and baby are doing well following the delivery, which was performed via cesarean section by an experienced medical team, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The baby’s mother, Indira, admitted the final weight came as a shock. An ultrasound at 37 weeks had estimated the baby at around 3,700 grams - but by week 41, Lyaysan had grown to over five kilograms.

Despite the surprise, the newborn is healthy and already showing a strong appetite. For the family, the name Lyaysan was a joint choice they instantly loved.
