Thunderstorms and Heatwaves to Sweep Kazakhstan Soon

Kazakhstan is set to experience a period of extreme weather between July 24 and 26, with the national meteorological service warning of powerful thunderstorms and oppressive heat across various regions.

Driven by an active cyclone, the western, northern, and central parts of the country are forecast to see heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, and squally winds, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

In contrast, the eastern and southeastern regions will remain largely dry, offering little relief from the intensifying heat.

Strong winds are expected throughout the country, and dust storms may develop in southern areas, further complicating conditions.

Meanwhile, much of Kazakhstan will grapple with intensifying heatwaves:

In the northern and western parts of the Almaty region, temperatures are forecast to reach +42°C on July 25-26.

On July 24, the western, southwestern, and northwestern regions could see temperatures climb to +35°C to +38°C.

Central regions are also expected to experience these temperatures on July 24-25.

Southern areas will be hit hardest, with highs of +40°C to +42°C from July 24 to 26.

The southeast may record +35°C to +39°C, while the east could face +35°C to +38°C on July 25-26.

The north will likely see up to +35°C on July 26.

The authorities are urging residents to stay indoors during peak heat hours, stay hydrated, and avoid travel during dust storms and thunderstorms where possible.
