Türkiye Extradites Fraud Suspect to Kazakhstan - VIDEO

A suspect wanted in a fraud investigation has been extradited from Türkiye to Kazakhstan following coordination through Interpol, authorities said.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs said the suspect was detained in the Turkish city of Samsun and transferred to Kazakhstan on June 19 after a request from the ministry’s National Central Bureau of Interpol, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

Kazakh authorities and diplomatic representatives, including officials from the ministry’s office in Türkiye and Kazakhstan’s embassy, helped organise the extradition process.

Investigators allege that between September and December 2024, the suspect used an Instagram account to deceive two residents of Atyrau, a city in western Kazakhstan, and obtained more than 3 million tenge (around $6,400).

After arriving in Kazakhstan, the man was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility under the Almaty Police Department.

The investigation into the alleged fraud is ongoing.
