Türkiye's Ankara Hosts First Exhibition Celebrating Kazakhstan’s National Currency Day

An exhibition marking Kazakhstan’s National Currency Day, celebrated every year on November 15, took place in Ankara - the first event of its kind to be held in Türkiye.

The exhibition showcased Kazakhstan’s commemorative banknotes and coins, attracting guests including Yaşar Çukur, Head of Department at the Turkish Mint under Türkiye’s Ministry of Treasury and Finance; Cemile Kınacı Baran, Deputy Chair of the Justice and Development Party’s Committee on Relations with the Turkic World; Turkish collectors; members of the Kazakh diaspora; and students, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

Experts at the event noted strong similarities in coin-minting technologies among Turkic nations. Yaşar Çukur highlighted the cultural connection between Kazakh and Turkish designs, saying,

“Kazakhstan’s coins reflect our shared heritage - depicting statesmen, scholars, and cultural symbols. The technologies we use are nearly identical, differing only in ornamentation.”

Cemile Kınacı Baran added that the very word tenge comes from the medieval Turkic terms denge or tanga, meaning silver coin - a reminder of the deep historical ties among Turkic peoples.

Guests also enjoyed student performances of traditional kyuis and tasted dishes of Kazakh national cuisine, celebrating the cultural bond between the two nations.
