UN Secretary-General António Guterres will visit Kazakhstan on August 3 at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, with the two leaders also expected to visit the United Nations Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.
The centre plays a key role in coordinating regional cooperation to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.
Bilateral talks between the two leaders are scheduled to take place in Almaty.
The upcoming visit follows Guterres’ planned trip to Kyrgyzstan in early July, underscoring the UN's growing engagement with Central Asian countries on pressing issues such as sustainable development, climate resilience, and regional stability.
