Wabtec, Kazakhstan Railways Partner to Boost Social Development Across Kazakhstan

During a working visit to the US, a delegation from Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways) company signed a landmark agreement with Wabtec Corporation.

Initiated by KTZ, the agreement aims to secure funding for social development projects across Kazakhstan. The document was signed by KTZ Chairman Talgat Aldybergenov and Wabtec CEO Rafael Santana, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The planned projects will focus on enhancing both engineering and social infrastructure, targeting regional improvements that elevate the quality of life for communities living near key railway hubs while strengthening social resilience.

This marks a historic milestone for KTZ, as it is the company’s first direct investment into social initiatives within Kazakhstan.

“For KTZ, developing infrastructure and modernizing our locomotive fleet is crucial, but equally important is supporting the people living and working near our railways. Together with Wabtec, we are committed to sustainable social development in these regions, securing the future of rail transport and empowering the younger generation,” Aldybergenov said.

The agreement builds on the long-standing strategic partnership between KTZ and Wabtec, which includes locomotive delivery and maintenance services, further cementing their joint dedication to Kazakhstan’s socio-economic growth.

Earlier reports confirmed that Kazakhstan will receive 300 American-made freight locomotives under a $4.2 billion deal with Wabtec.
