The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is set to appoint a new Secretary-General for the 2026-2028 term during its summit scheduled for November 27 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The participants will focus on key regional security issues, with discussions expected to center on expanding cooperation to combat drug trafficking and illegal migration across member states, The Caspian Post informs via the CSTO.
The summit will also outline the priorities of Russia’s upcoming chairmanship of the CSTO in 2026, setting the tone for the organization’s strategic agenda in the coming years.
Imangali Tasmagambetov, who has served as CSTO Secretary-General since 2023, currently leads the organization.
