Kyrgyz Parliament Introduces New Post and Biometric Voting

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov has signed amendments to the law governing the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament).

The law, passed by lawmakers on December 24, 2025, aims to optimize parliamentary work, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Key changes include the creation of the First Deputy Speaker position and a limit of four members per faction or deputy group in each parliamentary committee.

The reforms also introduce electronic voting with fingerprint and/or facial recognition, set to be implemented from January 1, 2027, enhancing transparency and efficiency in parliamentary decision-making.

The signed amendments will come into force according to the legal procedure established in Kyrgyzstan.
