Kyrgyz taekwondo athlete Erzhan Kemelov has secured a bronze medal in the under-37 kg weight category at the Asian Cadet Taekwondo Championships.
The prestigious event took place in Kuching, Malaysia, bringing together more than 800 young athletes from 50 countries to compete in Olympic-style taekwondo, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Kemelov delivered an impressive performance, becoming the only medalist from Kyrgyzstan among both the junior and cadet national teams. His journey to the podium included two notable victories-defeating opponents from Iraq and Saudi Arabia in the earlier rounds.
In the semifinal match, he faced a strong contender from Kazakhstan and, despite a determined effort, fell short, finishing the tournament in third place.
