Kyrgyzstan Lets Citizens Inherit Electronic Money Under New Law

Citizens of Kyrgyzstan will now be able to inherit electronic money, following the signing of a new law by President Sadyr Japarov.

Under the legislation, funds stored in electronic wallets and other digital payment accounts will officially become part of a person's estate and can be transferred to heirs after inheritance rights are legally confirmed, The Caspian Post reports via Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.

Once the inheritance process is completed, the electronic funds may be paid directly to beneficiaries or transferred to their designated bank accounts.

The new law also grants heirs and their legal representatives the right to obtain information about a deceased person's electronic money holdings, including the balance and details of their digital wallet or other electronic storage, provided they submit documents confirming their inheritance rights.
