Kyrgyzstan Turns to Uzbekistan, Belarus and China for Fuel Supplies

Kyrgyzstan is negotiating with Uzbekistan, Belarus, and China to secure stable supplies of fuel and lubricants (petroleum products) amid growing concerns over regional fuel shortages.

Kyrgyz Energy Minister Altynbek Rysbekov said that the country is working to diversify its fuel imports as supply challenges affect not only Kyrgyzstan but also fuel-producing nations, The Caspian Post reports via 24kg.

Rysbekov said government-level talks with Uzbekistan have already taken place and discussions are continuing between the relevant ministries. Belarus and China have also responded positively to Kyrgyzstan's requests for fuel supplies.

The minister noted that fuel deliveries from Belarus are expected to transit through Russia, with no major transit disruptions anticipated. With China, the two sides have already agreed on supply volumes and are now resolving procedural issues before shipments begin.

As Kyrgyzstan relies entirely on imported fuel, ensuring uninterrupted deliveries remains a top priority for the government.

The negotiations come after Russia introduced a temporary ban on fuel exports, while Kazakhstan tightened measures to prevent the illegal export of fuel, limiting the entry of vehicles from neighboring countries to once per day.
