Customs officers in Kyrgyzstan have foiled an attempt to illegally transport $28,160 in undeclared cash through Manas International Airport.
Officers from the State Customs Service stopped an Uzbek citizen who was attempting to leave the country without declaring the cash, violating the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) customs regulations governing the cross-border movement of currency, The Caspian Post reports via Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 231 of Kyrgyzstan's Criminal Code, and an investigation is currently underway.
