Kyrgyzstan May Declare Russian TV Host Persona Non Grata

Kyrgyz MP Dastan Bekeshev has proposed declaring Russian TV host Vladimir Solovyov persona non grata.

Bekeshev said the Foreign Ministry should summon the Russian ambassador, issue a protest note, and possibly bar Solovyov from entering Kyrgyzstan, calling him “unsuitable” for the country, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The proposal came after Solovyov’s January 11 broadcast, in which he claimed that the loss of Armenia and Central Asian issues are huge problems for Russia and suggested that Russia could disregard international law, similar to the US in Venezuela. He added that Russia could conduct military operations in other areas of its influence if deemed necessary for national security, sparking backlash among politicians and citizens across Central Asia.
