Kyrgyzstan's permanent population saw an increase of 119.9 thousand people, or 1.7 percent, in 2024, bringing the total to 7 million 282 thousand as of January 1, 2025, according to the country's National Statistical Committee.
According to the Department of Population Registration and Civil Status Acts, in 2024, 140.4 thousand newborns were registered in the civil registry offices, or 19.4 per 1,000 population (20.6 in 2023) and 31.7 thousand deaths, or 4.4 per 1,000 population (4.4 in 2023), The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
As a result, the natural population growth amounted to 108.7 thousand people, or 15.0 per 1,000 population (16.2 in 2023). The highest level of natural population growth in 2024 was observed in the Batken, Osh and Jalal-Abad regions, and the lowest - in Bishkek and Issyk-Kul region.
