Kyrgyzstan sharply increased its imports of Russian fertilizers during the first half of 2026, with purchases rising by nearly two-thirds year on year.

From January through June, Kyrgyzstan imported $20.3 million worth of fertilizers from Russia, 1.6 times more than during the same period last year. The total volume of fertilizer imports from Russia was reported at nearly 6 million tons, according to the Kyrgyz National Statistical Committee.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan’s fertilizer imports increased by 26% during the period. As a result, Russia’s share of the country’s fertilizer imports climbed from 40% to 50%.

Nitrogen fertilizers accounted for the largest share of Kyrgyzstan’s purchases from Russia, worth $13.6 million. They were followed by mixed fertilizers at $6.4 million, potash fertilizers at $181,600, and fertilizers of animal and vegetable origin at $17,400.

Russia remained Kyrgyzstan’s largest fertilizer supplier. The other countries in the top five were Uzbekistan, with $15.8 million in exports to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan with $2.3 million, Türkiye with $365,100, and Spain with $297,300.
