In 2025, Kyrgyzstan will send 19 master’s and one doctoral student from among its state and municipal employees to study in Japan under the Japan Development Scholarship (JDS) program, supported by the Government of Japan.
Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev has met with the scholarship recipients and highlighted the significant benefits that studying in Japan will bring to Kyrgyzstan’s economy and society, The Caspian Post reports per Kyrgyz media.
“Among all areas of cooperation with Japan, the JDS program holds special importance for us. Japan is globally recognized for its discipline, high-quality education, and advanced technologies. The knowledge and cutting-edge experience gained, especially in public administration, will be an invaluable asset for Kyrgyzstan’s development,” Kasymaliev stated.
Since the program’s inception in 2006, a total of 327 Kyrgyz students have graduated through JDS. According to official statistics, 60 per cent of these alumni work within state and municipal institutions, with half of them occupying leadership roles.
