A sudden and powerful hailstorm hit Aksu District in Kyrgyzstan’s Jalal-Abad Region, surprising residents with hailstones reportedly the size of quail eggs.

Although the storm lasted only a short time, it caused considerable alarm among locals due to the intensity of the hail, The Caspian Post reports per Kyrgyz media.

At present, there are no confirmed reports of damage or injuries, but assessments are still underway by local authorities.

The Kyrgyz Hydrometeorological Service had previously issued weather alerts forecasting brief but heavy rainfall and hail for several areas in the south of the country.
