A ceremony in Kyrgyzstan's Bishkek city has marked the handover of 651,000 Russian language textbooks for grades 1, 2, 5, and 7 in schools where Russian is the language of instruction.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said the donation is part of Russia’s friendly assistance program and presented a certificate for the textbooks to Kyrgyz officials, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
The newly adapted textbooks feature updated geographic references, currency, character names, and illustrations, while also including materials on Kyrgyz history, culture, national art, literature, and folklore. The content has been designed to align with Kyrgyzstan’s planned transition to a 12-year school education model, ensuring long-term relevance.
Over 90 per cent of the textbooks have already been delivered and will soon reach schools across the country. The program for developing and distributing Russian language and literature textbooks will continue in 2026, alongside the planned arrival of Russian teachers to Kyrgyz schools.
