The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has simplified driving regulations for tourists from 52 countries, including Kyrgyzstan.
Under the new rules, tourists holding valid driver’s licenses from the approved countries can drive in the UAE without the need for an international driving permit, provided they are visiting on a tourist visa and do not have residency status, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
Furthermore, tourists who choose to become residents in the UAE can exchange their foreign driver’s licenses for local ones without having to retake driving exams. The license exchange process requires a fee of 600 dirhams, along with an official Arabic translation of the license and a copy of the original document.
While Russia and Kazakhstan are notably absent from the list, countries such as Belarus, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are included.
To verify eligibility or to apply for a license exchange, applicants can visit the UAE Interior Ministry’s website or use their official mobile application.
