UNESCO Launches Inaugural International Conference Celebrating Kyrgyz Culture

UNESCO headquarters in Paris will host the opening of the first international conference, “Chingiz Aitmatov and UNESCO: Joint Heritage That Unites the World”, on September 19.

A highlight of the event will be the formal presentation of the book “Kyrgyz”, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Authored by Kanybek Imanaliev, Chairman of the National Writers’ Union of Kyrgyzstan, the book has already been translated into ten languages, including French, Russian, English, German, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Azerbaijani, and Farsi.

The book offers an in-depth exploration of the nation’s traditions, spiritual culture, folklore, genealogy, and notable historical figures, including the founders of the Kyrgyz Khaganate. The book also highlights Kyrgyzstan’s national spiritual values, applied arts, and unique natural heritage, encompassing its landscapes, flora, and fauna.

The international conference is organized by the Permanent Delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic to UNESCO, in partnership with TURKSOY and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. The book presentation serves as a central feature of the program, aimed at drawing global attention to Kyrgyzstan’s rich historical and cultural legacy.
