Uzbekistan and EBRD Discuss New Investment Projects

On April 3, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Kuchkarov, met with a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, led by President Odile Renaud-Basso.

Issues of further intensification of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EBRD, as well as the implementation of new investment projects, were discussed at the meeting organized within the framework of the first “Central Asia - European Union” summit, The Caspian Post reports citing UzA.

As it was noted, Uzbekistan is a major partner of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the region. The parties emphasized that aligning the bank’s strategy for 2024-2029 with the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy will strengthen cooperation and expand opportunities for implementing promising projects.

Several significant projects are being implemented within the framework of cooperation in such areas as women’s entrepreneurship, youth support, banking sector development, education, and healthcare.

During the dialogue, the Head of the EBRD delegation expressed readiness to increase investments in these areas and also noted the possibility of including new projects in the green economy and the corporate sector in the agenda of cooperation.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue mutually beneficial and constructive cooperation, increase the number of joint projects, and expand relations into new, promising areas.
