At the Kuksaroy Residence, the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council was held under the chairmanship of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and his Kazakh Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The Uzbek president emphasized that the Supreme Interstate Council, established in 2024, has proven its relevance and effectiveness, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
“Our relations have now reached the highest level of strategic partnership and alliance”, stated Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The parties discussed in detail new areas of cooperation and ways to utilize bilateral potential, and adopted several decisions that will significantly expand the partnership between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
Particular attention was given to ensuring sustainable growth in mutual trade, diversifying its structure, and creating favorable conditions for business.
It was noted with satisfaction that trade turnover has reached $4 billion since the beginning of the year. A target has been set to increase this figure to $10 billion by 2030.
All necessary conditions have been created for this purpose: a substantial package of trade and investment agreements has been formed, the company UzKazTrade has been established, and mechanisms for direct interaction between business communities have been introduced.
The Leader of Uzbekistan highlighted significant achievements in industrial cooperation.
During the visit, the International Center for Industrial Cooperation “Central Asia” will be launched, along with several significant projects worth $1.3 billion. In addition, a large-scale Industrial Cooperation Program worth over $8 billion has been prepared, including projects in chemistry, geology, infrastructure, logistics, agro-industry, and many other areas.
A systemic partnership in the field of transport and logistics was identified as a priority. The need for joint work to create new transport corridors, including the Uchquduq - Kyzylorda route, and to stimulate cargo transportation through the ports of Aktau, Kuryk, and Khorgos was emphasized.
Readiness was expressed to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the transportation and processing of energy resources, energy conservation, the introduction of green technologies, and IT.
Effective measures will be taken to strengthen cooperation in the water and environmental sphere. The parties welcomed the signing of the Agreement on Joint Management and Use of Transboundary Water Facilities during the visit.
The leaders acknowledged the special role of humanitarian ties. It was noted with satisfaction that this year, several joint cultural events were successfully held in Almaty and Astana, including the “Lazgi” ballet, an art exhibition, a writers’ forum, a youth festival, as well as Kazakhstan Medicine Days in Uzbekistan and Astana Days in Tashkent.
An agreement was reached to continue exchanges among scientific and educational institutions and youth organizations, and to expand joint programs among higher education institutions.
The importance of developing joint tourist routes and promoting the historical landmarks and the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was emphasized.
Reports by the deputy prime ministers and the ministers of energy, transport, and culture on the meeting agenda were also heard.
Following the meeting, several important decisions were adopted at the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.
