Preparations are underway for the third Belarus-Uzbekistan Women’s Business Forum, as announced by Sergei Aleinik, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of Belarus’ Council of the Republic. He shared the update with the media following a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Belarus, Rahmatulla Nazarov, in Minsk on August 4, The Caspian Post reports citing BelTA. "We are actively preparing for the third Belarus-Uzbekistan Women's Business Forum. The event is planned to feature seven thematic sessions covering key areas of our bilateral cooperation. These will include: machine building and industrial cooperation, agricultural and agro-industrial collaboration. light industry partnerships, social and humanitarian matters, education, science, and healthcare. Cooperation across all these sectors has been gaining momentum," Sergei Aleinik noted. “A dedicated session will focus on tourism development. I would particularly highlight two additional sessions: one addressing youth cooperation and joint youth policy initiatives between our countries, and another examining the role of local governance in implementing bilateral partnerships. This represents a new dimension of cooperation, established during the official visit of Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova to Uzbekistan last year. These thematic sessions comprehensively cover our bilateral partnership's key areas, and we anticipate each will culminate in the signing of relevant cooperation agreements."
"During the first forum, 15 contracts worth $29 million were signed, followed by 18 contracts totaling $44 million at the second forum. Preliminary estimates indicate this year's anticipated agreements will slightly surpass last year's figures in total value. We will work to achieve even more substantial results, making a meaningful contribution to economic cooperation between our countries and advancing toward the $1 billion trade target set by our heads of state," the MP emphasized. Bilateral trade has grown by 13% in January-May of this year, continuing last year’s positive trajectory. I am confident this forum will deliver tangible economic results to further strengthen our partnership," the official stated.
"We also plan to sign several agreements to advance interregional cooperation. To date, approximately 20 interregional agreements have already been concluded. We anticipate finalizing a partnership agreement between the youth unions of Belarus and Uzbekistan. A preliminary understanding has already been reached." Sergei Aleinik noted.
