Major Forest Fire Sweeps Through Southwestern Türkiye, Triggering Mass Evacuations

More than 1,100 people have been evacuated after a large forest wildfire broke out in Muğla Province in southwestern Türkiye, prompting authorities to clear hotels and a resort complex as firefighters battle the blaze.

Around 1,120 residents and tourists were moved to safe areas as a precaution while emergency crews continued efforts to contain the fire, The Caspian Post reports via HaberTurk.

Authorities have stepped up security measures across the affected region to protect nearby communities and tourist facilities.

Officials said that five of the six forest fires reported across Muğla Province on July 14 have already been brought under control, while firefighting operations continue at the remaining wildfire site.

Meanwhile, units of the Turkish Gendarmerie have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fires.

Muğla, home to some of Türkiye's most popular Mediterranean resorts, frequently faces heightened wildfire risks during the hot summer months, making rapid emergency response critical to protecting both residents and visitors.
