Hundreds of Russian travelers are reportedly facing long delays in Vietnam after several flights from Hanoi to Moscow were canceled, leaving some passengers waiting at the airport for more than two days.

Passengers on Vietnam Airlines flight VN63 told the Russian outlet Ostorozhno, Novosti that their flight was originally scheduled to depart Hanoi on September 6. It was first postponed for a day before being canceled, with the airline citing “operational reasons.”

Passengers on another canceled flight said they were reportedly told by the airline that the departure had been canceled because “Moscow issued a ban.”

According to the travelers, passengers were taken back through immigration control into Vietnam after the cancellations.

“Currently, Vietnam Airlines has not provided us with a confirmed route or a guaranteed date for returning to Russia,” the passengers said.

The affected passengers said dozens of other Russian travelers were also unable to leave Vietnam for Russia.

Some reportedly have been waiting for flights for more than 48 hours, while part of the group remains at the airport.

Passengers also claimed they were not provided with food, water or hotel accommodation during the disruption.
