A large-scale drone attack has struck the Tuapse Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region, triggering fires at key oil infrastructure and port facilities.
Multiple explosions were heard after 2 a.m., followed by flashes in the sky and gunfire as air defense systems responded, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.
Residents reported that debris from drones fell on industrial areas, sparking fires and sending thick smoke over parts of the city. Fuel storage tanks near a processing unit were also reportedly affected, with at least two tanks catching fire.
The nearby sea terminal was also among the impacted sites, with disruptions reported at the port infrastructure.
Air traffic restrictions were temporarily introduced at airports in Sochi International Airport, Krasnodar International Airport, and Gelendzhik Airport due to the drone threat.
Emergency services were deployed to contain the blaze, while regional authorities later confirmed the attack but said there were no casualties.
The Tuapse refinery has been targeted multiple times in recent years, with previous incidents linked to operational disruptions and environmental damage. Investigations into the full extent of the latest strike are ongoing.
