Five Russian Guided Bombs Strike Sumy, Damaging Civilian Infrastructure

Russian forces launched five guided aerial bombs on the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy, striking civilian infrastructure in multiple parts of the city.

Located just 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the Russian border, Sumy has remained a frequent target of Russian airstrikes throughout the war, The Caspian Post reports via Kyiv Post.

Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, said two of the bombs hit the city center.

"Preliminarily, five guided bomb strikes have been recorded," Hryhorov wrote on social media. "Less than six hours had passed since the previous guided bomb strike on the outskirts of Sumy."

Regional officials said one of the explosions damaged a multistory non-residential building, while the powerful blast shattered hundreds of windows in nearby structures.

Emergency crews remain at the scene as authorities continue assessing the damage. Officials said the number of casualties and the full extent of the destruction are still being determined.

The latest bombardment came just one day after seven people, including a four-year-old child, were injured in separate Russian attacks across the Sumy district.
