Most Russians to Spend February 23 Holiday in Türkiye, UAE, China

As Russia prepares for the long weekend marking Defender of the Fatherland Day on February 23, thousands of travelers are heading abroad - with warm-weather destinations dominating demand.

Türkiye ranks first in popularity, attracting 28 per cent of Russian tourists planning holiday trips. United Arab Emirates follows with 18 per cent, while China takes third place with 13 per cent of bookings, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

Travel experts say favorable weather is the key factor driving demand, as many Russians seek sunny climates for the extended February break.

Other international destinations drawing interest include Uzbekistan, Armenia, Thailand, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Maldives, and Vietnam.

Meanwhile, tour operator ITM Group reports growing interest in extended holiday packages to destinations such as Kenya, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, and South Africa.

Domestic tourism is also on the rise. According to travel platform “My Agent,” Moscow leads with 27 per cent of bookings, followed by Saint Petersburg (16 per cent) and Murmansk (12 per cent). Popular domestic destinations also include Sochi, Gorno-Altaysk, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, and Kazan.
