Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that starting in 2026, families in Russia will receive a new financial benefit called the “family tax payment”, which complements existing state support.
Putin emphasized that the measure is additional to current benefits and that families will retain the right to receive other forms of aid, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
He stressed that the procedure for receiving the payment must be simple and unobstructed to ensure funds reach the intended recipients.
The new initiative works like a tax cashback for working parents: families with two or more children can have their personal income tax (PIT) recalculated at a reduced rate of 6 per cent instead of 13 per cent, with the 7 per cent difference returned in cash. The benefit targets households with a per capita income no higher than 1.5 times the regional subsistence minimum, and both parents can claim it if there are no outstanding alimony obligations.
Applications will open from June 1 to October 1, 2026, covering taxes paid in 2025, providing a significant financial boost for eligible families.
