Russia Launches Massive Drone and Missile Barrage on Kyiv, Killing Six and Hitting Key Infrastructure

Russian forces unleashed a massive wave of drones and missiles on Kyiv on November 25 early morning, killing six people, injuring at least 13, and knocking out power and heating across multiple regions - one of the biggest strikes on the capital this month.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said more than 460 drones and 22 missiles were launched in the overnight assault. Ukrainian air defence units said they intercepted all 22 missiles and most of the drones, but debris still caused widespread destruction, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.

“The primary targets were the energy sector and everything that keeps normal life going,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.

Ukraine’s Energy Ministry confirmed that over 102,000 people in five regions were left without electricity after strikes damaged key energy infrastructure.

In Kyiv alone, city authorities reported damage at 13 locations, hitting both residential and commercial buildings and disrupting heating in several districts as temperatures continue to drop.

Zelenskyy urged international partners to keep supplying Ukraine with air defence systems and weapons, stressing that diplomatic pressure on Moscow must continue.

The attack had regional spillover effects as well: four Russian drones entered Moldova and NATO member Romania, prompting Romania to scramble fighter jets. One of the drones reportedly flew deeper into Romanian territory before crashing.

Ukraine also reported additional strikes on Odesa, where port and energy facilities were damaged and six people were injured.

Local officials denounced the assault as a targeted attack on civilian infrastructure. Russia continues to deny this, claiming it only strikes military-related energy infrastructure.
