Russian Mi-8 Helicopter with Five on Board Goes Missing in Far East

A Russian Mi-8 helicopter carrying five people disappeared on July 14 while en route from Okhotsk to Magadan in Russia's Far East, according to Rosaviatsiya, the country’s aviation agency.

The helicopter had three crew members and two technicians aboard, The Caspian Post reports, citing Russian media.

The crew failed to make contact at the scheduled time.

A search operation is currently underway, with another Mi-8 helicopter dispatched from Okhotsk and an An-26 aircraft sent from Magadan to assist in the search.
