A hotel manager in Türkiye has survived an apparent suicide attempt after reportedly struggling with financial pressure linked to a decline in tourist arrivals, including fewer visitors from Russia.
The incident occurred at the Relax Beach Hotel in Alanya, Antalya Province. Hotel guests reportedly heard loud noises and rushed outside, where they found the manager seriously injured. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital, where doctors were able to save his life after determining he had sustained a shoulder injury, The Caspian Post reports via SHOT.
Employees told local media that the man managed the family-owned hotel, which belongs to his father. They said the business had been facing financial difficulties as tourist numbers, particularly from Russia, declined, placing significant pressure on the family.
The reports said the manager had been experiencing severe emotional distress in recent months. However, some accounts suggested investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the incident was intended as a cry for help rather than a genuine attempt to take his own life.
