Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to visit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on July 20 to participate in events commemorating Peace and Freedom Day.
The visit marks the 51st anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, a military intervention launched by Türkiye in 1974 following a coup in Cyprus backed by the Greek junta, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
The day is observed annually in Northern Cyprus as a symbol of Turkish Cypriot sovereignty and security.
The announcement of the visit was made by Burhanettin Duran, head of the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, who shared the news via his official social media account.
During his visit, President Erdoğan is expected to attend official ceremonies alongside TRNC President Ersin Tatar. In addition to the commemorations, the Turkish leader will also take part in several ceremonial events, including the groundbreaking and inauguration of key infrastructure and development projects supported by Türkiye.
